Is everyone as sick as I am listening to all the accusations regarding the pressure of the balls in last week’s playoff game?
‘Footballs, which are weighed before the game, must be inflated to no less than 12.5 pounds per square inch. A deflated ball could be easier to grip in bad weather, such as in Sunday’s rain at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts.’
I’m sure that this weighing and pressure checking is performed inside a nice warn official’s room somewhere in the Stadium, AT ROOM TEMPERATURE!!
A simple Law of Physics that I learned in high school, states that the pressure will decrease with a decrease in temperature. Taking a ball from a warm room at 75 degrees outside to the field to a temperature of about 50 degrees cooler with deflate the ball. QED.
I guess no football jocks ever went to high school!
